The Go-To Voice
Dr. Michael M. Andrews is a founding partner of Coaction Collective, where he functions as a master facilitator and keynote speaker while co-leading national strategy, executive leadership coaching, and large-scale systems redesign in service of equitable family and community engagement. With more than two decades of leadership experience across PK–16 education, Dr. Andrews has partnered with districts, state agencies, and national organizations to strengthen leadership capacity, reimagine engagement practices, and build sustainable infrastructures that center students and families most impacted by inequity.
He previously served as Senior Director of Leadership Development at the Flamboyan Foundation, providing strategic coaching to district and state leaders nationwide. At the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in Washington, DC, he directed postsecondary and career initiatives, designed the College/Career/Credential Ready (C3Ready) mission and vision, and led citywide efforts such as the Summer Transition Initiative and the “Forgotten 40%” workgroup to support students not immediately enrolling in college. Earlier, as Associate Dean of Students at The Catholic University of America and Assistant Director at the University of Maryland, he led multicultural education, retention strategy, and institutional change efforts.
A signature outcome of his leadership includes doubling workshop participation in the Alpha Leadership Project at the DC College Access Program within one year and designing citywide transition initiatives serving thousands of students and families. His professional and personal worlds recently intersected as he navigates the higher education process with his son, a college sophomore and athlete.
Dr. Andrews earned his Ed.D. in Education Leadership & Policy from American University. He holds an M.Ed. in Counseling & College Student Personnel Administration and a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Social Science, both from James Madison University.
Outside of his professional work, Michael is a husband, father of two, runner, music lover, and lifelong student of culture, constantly observing the patterns that connect education, community, and human behavior.
