When Families Lead: Inside Thompson School District's Co-Design Work
What happens when families are trusted to help shape what happens next?
We're celebrating the families, teachers, and school leaders of Thompson School District in Colorado for embracing co-design in partnership with the Rocky Mountain Family Engagement Collective (RFMEC) and Coaction Collective.
Through this process, families, educators, and school leaders listen to other families in their community, identify an opportunity or challenge related to family engagement, and then design and test a response based on what they heard.
It's a powerful shift: from doing for families to designing with families.
Kyle and Justin from Coaction Collective had the privilege of supporting this work in Thompson last week, but the leadership belongs to the families and educators who made the process their own. Their willingness to listen, learn, experiment, and act on what families shared is exactly what meaningful family-school partnership looks like.
