Family–School–Community Partnerships

We help schools build strong family engagement systems through strategic planning, coaching, and professional learning. Our work brings schools, families, and community partners together around shared goals and clear pathways forward.

Our Approach to Family & Community Engagement

Coaction Collective partners with school systems across the country to strengthen family and community engagement in real, lasting ways. Our services include listening tours, strategy development, and educator coaching and training.

Alongside school leader coaching and cohort learning communities, we provide research-based professional learning for teachers focused on engaging families as true partners in student learning.

Educators leave with practical strategies to:

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with families

  • Communicate proactively about academics and student progress

  • Engage families as partners and co-creators in their child’s learning

  • Strengthen asset-based partnerships that support student growth

Codesign with Families

One of our core offerings is Codesign with Families, a cohort experience that brings school teams and families together to solve real challenges in family-school partnerships.

Using the principles of design thinking, school leaders, teachers, and families work side by side to explore family voice and develop solutions that strengthen trust, communication, and collaboration.

Families are not just participants in this process. They are partners in designing the solutions.

School teams and families conduct empathy interviews across the school community to understand families’ experiences as partners in their child’s education.

What This Work Produces

Through this process, schools develop:

  • Family insight statements that center community voice

  • Actionable strategies for strengthening family partnerships

  • Stronger trust between families and school staff

  • Sustainable engagement practices connected to student learning
