Family Engagement in West Virginia: Virtual Summit Unites Educators and Communities

In January, Coaction Collective partnered with the West Virginia Family Engagement Center and The EdVenture Group to support the state’s first-ever Virtual Family & Community Engagement Summit—a powerful event focused on building stronger school-community partnerships across West Virginia.

With support from CoCo’s Megan Lucas, the summit offered practical tools and strategies to help educators, administrators, and community leaders deepen family engagement efforts in their local contexts. The event brought together over 100 participants, all committed to advancing meaningful partnerships between schools and families across the Mountain State.

We were honored to collaborate with so many inspiring partners, including keynote speaker Lydotta Taylor, who set the tone with a powerful message about leadership, relationships, and collective impact. Sessions featured insights and resources from leaders and organizations like National PTA, Move2Learn, Avanda Williams-White, M.Ed., and Chelsie Webster, all contributing to a dynamic and collaborative day of learning.

At CoCo, we believe that strong family-school partnerships are essential for student success. This summit created space for honest dialogue, peer learning, and real-world strategy sharing—and we were thrilled to be part of it.

Whether it’s a virtual event or hands-on facilitation, we’re proud to support family engagement leaders across the country as they build trust, strengthen community connections, and turn ideas into action.

Here’s to more moments like this—rooted in collaboration, equity, and shared purpose.
